What Plans?

Went to church this morning. I planned to make my grocery list and then relax until visiting my uncle who just came back from Ghana. I had a whole plan for my day...... but sometimes plans just call an audible. Yes we went to church. But my plan was no longer a plan after that. My "plan" to sort laundry and make my grocery list was interrupted by a very welcomed call to reminisce over how great my mom was when she was here. Then it was time to go run to Costco for my uncle's beloved pizza and head up the road for our visit. I dare not cut family time short for my to do list....so how do I make dinner and do laundry in 3 hours after I got home? Dinner, maybe, but dinner and the laundry?

And then to pull out work clothes since I haven't worked in 9 months and am starting a new job tomorrow......wooosaaaa.   And then (in my ItsJustTerrellT voice) my son's girlfriend's car wouldn't start when she was headed home from visiting him. At this point I just giggled. No laundry done, no dinner made, and now boo's car won't start? And not prepared to start a new job tomorrow. This was an audible on top of the audible.

But as my day winds down I remember today's sermon on praising God, even through the hard times. Every mishap that happened today didn't take me out. And I got to a point this evening where I could just laugh at "my plans". Trust me when I say this is growth for me. Last Sunday a friend told me to make lemonade of my situation.... and even though it wasn't the best advise that day I'm glad I can pull it out if my words if encouragement emergency kit today.

Dancing in the rain may not always be easy but dance anyway. Even if you're only doing an offbeat or lazy two step, it beats the alternative.
